In 2014, we got engaged and began planning our wedding for the summer of 2015. Being in Chicago, we had a great network of vendors and businesses we could potentially choose from, but we realized that this pool of vendors was a lot smaller than we thought. Word of mouth, friend recommendations, and the over-used "they're just the best for this" was something we quickly grew tired of. We ended up going with what we knew or what we were told, and the entire time all we could think about was "Why couldn't we go to a marketplace and bundle all of this in one shot?"
10 years later, we're still seeing the same thing happen to younger relatives getting married today. It's the same vendors, the same venues, and the same way of planning. Limited and mixed reviews, hard to understand pricing, and an old way of doing things that is overdue for an update into the 21st century.
